Outdoor week: trainees from two locations experience teamwork and personal development

The annual experiential education week for our first-year apprentices took place at the end of June. This year, 12 apprentices travelled to Kleinwalsertal, Austria. The group was a colourful mix: different age groups, two locations and five professions. Business people, dual students, logistics specialists, mechatronics engineers and IT specialists were all on the trip. The focus was on getting to know each other and gaining valuable experience.

Successful teamwork

The project cycle covered all phases from information gathering to implementation. As in the real working world, these projects were associated with challenges that brought together different personalities and roles. The topic of "roles" was a particular focus: How do you behave in a team? What resources are brought to bear? Everyone discovered new sides to themselves and took on responsibility. Trust was built up, collaboration ran more smoothly and joint successes could be celebrated.

"Training also means personal development. Social skills are a key factor for success!"

Promoting personal development

Personal development was a key aspect of the week. The trainees were encouraged to leave their comfort zone and test their limits. They learnt how to find their way in unfamiliar situations, develop innovative solutions and express their opinions. Reflection and feedback played a major role in learning from the experience and deriving improvements. The trainees should also integrate these new insights into their day-to-day work.
